📘 Department Overview

The Obstetrical and Gynecological Nursing Department focuses on the comprehensive care of women during all stages of their reproductive life. The program prepares students to manage normal and high-risk pregnancies, childbirth, postnatal care, and various gynecological conditions with clinical expertise and empathy.

The department aims to develop competent nurses who can provide quality maternal and reproductive health services in both hospital and community settings, while promoting women's health and well-being through education, support, and skilled care.

We, the faculty of the Obstetrical & Gynecological Nursing Department, believe that:

• Maternal and reproductive health is a critical component of public health.

• Nurses trained in obstetric and gynecological care play a vital role in reducing maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity.

• OBG training equips nurses with the skills necessary for family-centered care, safe motherhood, and women’s health advocacy in India and globally.

🎯 Aim

The aim of the Obstetrical & Gynecological Nursing program is to prepare graduate nurses who are:

• Skilled in providing care to women during the antenatal, intranatal, postnatal, and menopausal periods.

• Capable of managing gynecological issues, promoting reproductive health, and supporting women through education and counseling.

🎓 Objectives

At the end of the course, the student will be able to:

• ✅ Apply the nursing process in caring for women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period.

• ✅ Provide skilled care to women in normal and high-risk obstetric conditions.

• ✅ Assist in safe and hygienic delivery procedures and immediate newborn care.

• ✅ Identify and manage common gynecological disorders and support women’s reproductive health needs.

• ✅ Promote family planning methods and educate women on reproductive rights and health.

• ✅ Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams in maternity and gynecological units.

• ✅ Demonstrate sensitivity and respect for women’s dignity, privacy, and cultural values during care.
