Overview
Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery ( B.A.M.S) is an integrated Medical Degree of modern Medicine and traditional Ayurveda. The degree is of five and half year duration, including one year internship after passing 10+2 with PCB. The syllabus and curriculum are well defined. The course structure is aimed to provide theory as well as practical training in the healing science of Ayurveda. The first year starts with principle of learning of philosophy and History of Ayurveda, Physiology, Anatomy and Pharmaceutical Sciences as per the syllabus of Central Council of Indian Medicine, Statutory body ( Indian Medicine Central Council Act, 1970). During the second year of the course in depth knowledge in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Toxicology and Medical Jurisprudence is developed. Pathology & Microbiology, Gynaecology & Obsterics and Paediatrics constitute the core of the third year of learning is General Surgery, ENT and dentistry and Internal Medicine including Mans roga Rasayan & Vajikarana are in focus in the final year of Undergraduate course. A BAMS graduate can practice modern / allopathic medicine in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh/ Maharashtra. Many people are unaware of this fact that BAMS doctors can practice modern / allopathic medicine. According to the privileges in the Drugs & Cosmetics Act 1940, Rules 1945 Sec 2ee(iii), States have right to allow BAMS doctors

BAMS stands for Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery. It is an undergraduate programme designed for aspiring candidates who want to enrich their knowledge in Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery to treat various diseases and disorders. Compulsory Rotatory 1-year internship in the clinical departments
